New World and Pet Capabilities

Okay, I know almost every Wizard101 blog is covering this, but it's exciting! The new world of Celestia is going to be released later this summer, while the Advanced Pet System is going to be released this spring.

Here is the article on the expansions:
PLANO, TEXAS (March 24, 2010) – KingsIsle Entertainment, creators of the award-winning massively multiplayer online game (MMO) Wizard101 is proud to announce details on two of the major content updates for 2010. An extensive Advanced Pet system is launching this spring and the world of Celestia is launching late summer. In addition to all new quests the Celestia expansion will also include an increased level cap and new secondary schools of magic.

Coming this spring, players will have the opportunity to hatch customized pets from millions of potential combinations. The Advanced Pet system will bring a new dimension of interaction within Wizard101 as players can race their pets in the expansive Pet Derby, participate in new pet-themed minigames, feed and train them, and use them as allies in magic duels. Players will be able to level their pets from an egg to ancient beings with incredible powers.

The new world of Celestia is inspired by Atlantis, and young Wizards will encounter new adventures and quests deep under the sea. Celestia also increases the level cap in Wizard101 from level 50 up to level 60, as well as introducing three new secondary schools of magic. Celestia will officially open in late summer. Starting in June players can undertake new quests to discover the secrets of this new world and begin to unlock the story behind Celestia.

“2010 is shaping up to be an incredible year for the students of Ravenwood School of Magic,” said J. Todd Coleman, Vice President and Creative Director for KingsIsle Entertainment. “Whether exploring the underwater kingdom of Celestia, or hatching and training pets to participate in the Pet Derby, every player–from the newest apprentice to the returning grandmaster–will find something compelling, engaging and fun.”

In Wizard101, kids and families enter the magical world of Wizard City as student Wizards setting out to hone their Wizard skills, cast spells and summon powerful creatures to fight evil forces. The characters and worlds of Wizard101 are influenced by literature, history and pop culture, giving the game a depth and quality appreciated by families and players of all ages.

Wizard101 can be downloaded at www.Wizard101.com and offers free game play for as long as players choose. Players seeking access to premium areas and items may purchase pre-paid cards in participating stores or purchase a subscription or Crowns online. New worlds, activities, pets and Wizard clothing are periodically added to the game, creating an ever-changing world with new things to see and do.

It sure sounds exciting! We can't wait!

NecroNews: Inside the Death School

I recently appeared in Nightshade, the Death School. I took some pics, researched a bit, and put together the entire Death School Insider Report from NecroNews.

"Hi! I'm Vanessa Deathsword, reporting live from inside the death school.  The death school originally sat between the fire and myth schools, but is famous for mysteriously disappearing after Malistaire left. According to the school's book 'Death is finality, the study of the corporeal. Practitioners of the Death Art, known as Necromancers, understand this limitation and strive to face it unafraid. Death's power comes from the removing of order from the universe at large. Withdrawing the power of order and allowing chaos to return instills Necromancers to bend magic to their will. Necromancers draw on the power of courage to channel their own fears out of themselves and at their adversaries. Death sits between Ice and Storm, for the cold energy of undeath lies between those two forces. Onyx is the gemstone of Death, while black and white are the school's other colors.'

As many of you know or suspected, the entrance to the death school is located under the waterfall in the commons."

"Un-subscribed wizards and some subscribed wizard are not allowed to enter the death school. I was lucky enough to have a friend teleport me in. Here is the outside of the school itself."

"Yes, it is very gloomy, we all know that. Let's take a peek inside!"

"You may notice some of the furniture is toppled. It is said that happened when Malistare moved the school. Dworgyn, the Death School Assistant, still stands inside, ready to train all students who come to him. But this place definatley fits in."

"If you would kindly step outside with me, we can meet Mortis, the school tree. He will train you with spells, and sells recipies."

"Now, you can still go into the tower. The teacher's portrait is ripped, and we can only guess why."

"Sadly, we must exit now. Please stay in a single file line, and do not touch those gravestones."

***PLEASE HOLD***

"I'm glad we're out of there. That place gave me the creeps. And I'M a death wizard!

Don't I look absolutly fab-u-lous?

Here are some questions I have recieved about the Death School:
Hannah Icebreaker: Who is the Death School teacher? Hmm, that one is pretty hard. Many wizards consider Malorn Ashthorn , an advanced death student, thier teacher. Others would say Dworgyn, an assistant located in Nightshade, is the real teacher. Although no longer on staff, Malistaire could be called the true teacher.
Courtney Rubyflame: Can you tell me more about Malistaire? Malistaire is a interesting person. He is the most hated character in the game. After the death of Sylvia, his wife and the old life teacher, he left Ravenwood to pursue mysterious desires of his own. He is very powerful, so beware of him if you encounter him, and have your big spells ready. His favorite food is monk fish with leeks, and he enjoys moonlight symphonies. He highly dislikes Reunions and team sports, and his favorite spells are Animate and Beguile.

Have a great time dueling!
